Multifunction
Display (MFD)
The
Multi-Function Display (MFD) system is a subsystem of the Integrated
Avionics System (IAS) Display system. The Display Unit (DU) provides
6 X 8 inch (10.4 Inch diagonal) displays that are specifically
designed and positioned on the aircraft instrument panel for quick
and easy visibility by the pilot and copilot. The MFD combines
the design and functions of the Electronic Flight Instrument System
(EFIS), Primary Flight Display (PFD), and the Integrated Instrument
Display System (IIDS) along with many other functions such as
Camera video, checklists, Procedures, Systems Status, fuel and
water quantity, radio tuning, GPWS, TCAS, Security video, flight
planning, moving map and other formats. In the case of Police
and Military applications, all the above plus Mission planning,
IR/EO Video, Tactical status, Weapons status and selection, and
other formats.
FEATURES
DISPLAY:
Large 6 x 8 inch viewing area, portrait mode, AMLCD Multi-Function
Display (Performs either EFIS or IIDS functions).
CONFIGURATION:
The MFD uses one part number for the unit regardless of location.
LIGHTING:
Accepts aircraft lighting power input.
ELECTRICAL:
Interfaces with 28 VDC aircraft power. EMI/RFI protection.
MAINTENANCE:
Provides maintenance information on loss of input or processor.
ON-BOARD
EXPERIENCE: Bell 412, Bell 427, Bell 430, Agusta A109 Helicopter,
USAF C-18, Zeppelin NT
Multifunction
Display (MFD)
The
Multifunction Display System (MFD) is comprised of four 6 X
8 inch (10.4 inch diagonal) displays that are specifically designed
and positioned on the aircraft instrument panel for quick and
easy visibility by the pilot and copilot. The MFD combines the
design and functions of the Electronic Flight Instrument System,
EFIS Product Line, and the companion Integrated Instrument Display
System (IIDS) Product Line.
Integrated
Avionics System (IAS) Capabilities
The
MFDs are used as the display units for the standard Integrated
Avionics System (IAS). The Integrated Avionics System is a four
MFD unit Primary Flight Display (PFD) / Multi-Function Display
(MFD) system. Two PFDs, used for the EFIS function, are located
on the extreme left and right side of the instrument panel,
and two MFDs, used for the IIDS functions, are located inboard
of the PFDs. All units are identical and fully interchangeable
and carry the same part number.
The
PFDs displays the standard flight instrumentation required for
IFR flight conditions. The MFDs display the standard aircraft
engine and system performance information. Both the PFDs and
MFDs can be customized to meet the special requirements of the
user.
Reversionary
Mode
In
the event of a failure of one of the MFD displays, all the engine
and system performance data will be automatically transferred
to the adjacent display in the Reversionary mode. In the event
of a failure of one of the PFD displays, all the flight instrumentation
will be automatically transferred to the adjacent display in
the Reversionary mode. The pilot or copilot can select any of
the working units for displaying the flight data and the engine
and system performance data by using the control function keys.
