Rogerson Kratos Awarded $7M+ by Bell Helicopter Textron for the Bell 429 Avionics Suite
The first avionics suite for the new MAPL (Modular Affordable Product Line) Bell 429 cockpit has been awarded to Rogerson Kratos located in Pasadena, CA. The initial value of the award is over $7M.
Plans call for the first Kratos equipped Bell 429 light twin helicopters to begin deliveries during the first half of 2007.
The system combines all of the information of conventional instruments but uses advances in hardware and software development to integrate, manage and analyze aircraft sensors to provide new flexibility and performance. Features include an integrated caution/advisor y system, multiple fail operational reversionary modes, and built- in-test equipment (BITE) for crew confidence testing and continuous in-flight monitoring. A standard I/O bus is available for easy up and downloading to aircraft maintenance computers.
Kratos EFIS, IAS and/or IIDS systems can be found on Bell's 412, 427 and 430. The first Kratos equipped Bell 430 was delivered to Bell Helicopter in February 1995, later to be certified in January 1996. The NEOAV 2000 EFIS series is the foundation of a family of AMLCD display products and designed to grow with the increasing information needs of aircraft cockpits in the digital age. Multiple sizes and options can be tailored for an applications unique needs. The versatile 5 ATI self-contained plug-replaceable unit is designed to be interchangeable with most existing aircraft flight director systems, requiring no separate hardware or aircraft wiring modifications. In addition, the system upgrades an aircraft's capabilities by offering integration with multiple aircraft situation awareness systems. Advantages of the NEOAV EFIS series over less robust cockpit solutions include increased safety, improved human factors, lower power, and lighter weight.
