Bell 412 First Flight with Rogerson Kratos Integrated Avionics Display System

Rogerson Kratos 10.4 inch AMLCD display Integrated Avionics System (IAS) flew its maiden flight on the Bell 412 in March 2001.

The 10.4 inch AMLCD display system integrates all the sensor systems, navigation radios, FMS / GPS, radio altimeters, weather radar display, engine instruments, warning caution, electrical systems, quantities, many more avionics indicators and items as IR / EO cameras into easy to read and control graphical and digital display formats.

Rogerson Kratos IAS system on the Bell 412 uses four identical 10.4 inch AMLCD Display Units (DU) along with a dual channel Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) for engine instrument analog signals and CRS /HDG Control Panel to provide the Bell 412 Helicopter with a highly integrated fully reversionary avionics system.

The IAS system provides the pilot primary flight display information in a easy to read round dial with digital readout display format.

The display system provides for a variety of video inputs in NTSC, RGB, PAL, or S-video formats. That can be used to display anything from VHS to IR/EO or moving map video.

First flight went well and marks a significant continuation of a long relationship on another best of class Bell helicopter and Rogerson Kratos avionics products. The helicopter is expected to be certified in 2002.

For more than 40 years, Rogerson Kratos has been the world leader in traditional aircraft instrumentation. With products on virtually every aircraft in the Western world, Rogerson Kratos continues to be selected as original equipment on new aircraft because of reliability and innovation.

Rogerson Kratos manufactures thousands of instruments for a variety of applications aboard most transports, business jets and turboprop aircraft. Products provide cockpit instrumentation systems measuring all engine, electrical and fluid parameters, aircraft position/trim and numerous system and environmental temperature levels.

Rogerson Kratos instruments stand out because of their unrivaled quality, superior reliability and service life. If that were not enough, Rogerson Kratos repairs and maintains its own equipment through in-house FAA/JAA-licensed service centers.
