Rogerson Kratos Is First To Successfully Integrate Search Radar Into Their EFIS 520 System

New capability now available to all retrofit operators

Irvine, CA, Jan 24, 2006 – Rogerson Kratos (RK) is now the only supplier that has successfully integrated the industry standard search beacon weather radar system, the Telephonics 1300/1400, into operational use.

The FFG (Finnish Frontier Guard) in Norway upgraded to Kratos EFIS 520 systems last year, and with onsite technical assistance from RK has now been successful in integrating the radar system. The installations were done in Norway at Heli-One, the worlds largest helicopter support company.

Since the successful maiden flights incorporating the Kratos EFIS 520 and RDR 1300/1400 in Europe, other helicopter fleet operators from Europe and North America are pursuing similar upgrades.

EFIS 520 is an upgraded variant of the NEOAV EFIS 500 series product first TSO certified in March 2002. EFIS 520 was designed for the business jet and rotorcraft retrofit market. The EFIS 520 contains multiple system options that can be tailored for an aircraft's unique needs. In addition to TCAS II and EGPWS/TAWS, the unit can interface with a full spectrum of FMS systems - which makes it adaptable to most aircraft flying today. In addition, the EFIS 520 provides on-screen configuration pages that allow the installer to configure the EFIS to meet specific aircraft analog and digital sensor and radio suites.
